Suku Anak Dalam cadres coordinate with relevant Regional Apparatus Organisation (OPD)

On Tuesday, 24 October 2023, two Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) cadres from Dwi Karya Bakti, Pelepat sub-district, Bungo Regency, Jambi Province, participated in coordination activities with several related Regional Apparatus Organisations (OPD) in Bungo Regency. They are Juliana (18 years old) and Tira (13 years old), who are cadres and active administrators in the mina hasop eluk business group.

Mina Hasop Eluk is a smoked fish economic business group owned by the indigenous community in Dwi Karya Bakti. Although only established for approximately two years, this business group has received attention from many parties. To increase the independence of its management, field facilitators from Pundi Sumatra began to invite business group administrators to be involved in various matters, including coordinating and distributing business group proposals.

The coordination this time was to visit the Regional National Craft Council (Dekranasda), the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), and the Bungo District Amil Zakat Subscribe to DeepL Pro to edit this document. In addition to routine coordination to convey the situation and development of the group, during the visit the cadres brought 2 files of proposals for group business development in the form of requests for business equipment assistance.

The arrival of SAD cadres to Dekranasda, Bappeda, and Baznas was received and responded very well by the officials met. The cadres used the opportunity to talk about the development of the smoked fish business unit and the idea of making processed products in the form of shredded fish. The reason is that the harvest from the group's fish enlargement pond is quite alot and can be produced into other processed products besides smoked fish. However, the plan requires working tools and kitchen equipment that the group does not currently have, such as an oven, blender, and hanging scales.

In contrast to the cadre's purpose to Baznas Bungo Regency, at the end of 2022, Baznas and the Bungo Regency Fisheries Livestock Service have agreed to provide fish seeds and feed for SAD residents in Pelepat. Since the assistance from the Livestock and Fisheries Office in the form of 2000 tilapia fish seedlings had already been received by the group, the cadres came to Baznas in order to apply for the need for feed to continue the fish enlargement process.

Both Baznas and Dekranasda responded well to the requests submitted by the cadres; and the assistance needed by the group will be realised in 2024. The coordination that the Pundi Sumatra team conducted to relevant stakeholders intentionally always involved SAD cadres to participate in the visit. This effort was made to provide examples to cadres on how to coordinate, communicate with officials encountered, little by little also foster their confidence to set foot in government offices and have direct dialogue to convey their needs and problems.

This process is a stage to prepare the cadres' independence in continuing the relay of coordination with the local government, when the facilitators are no longer with them.
