Through the Estungkara program from the Partnership Partnership which supports social change, Pundi Sumatra invites related parties to get involved and help achieve this goal. Last mid-December, Pundi Sumatra together with PMI Sarolangun conducted a blood type examination for the Jambi Anak Dalam Tribe<\/p>\n

Even though road access to the settlement was quite difficult because it rained at night, the team wearing red vests was still enthusiastic about providing education about health and the importance of knowing blood type for SAD in Pematang Jumat Hamlet, Limbur Tembesi Subdistrict, Bathin VIII District, Sarolangun Regency.<\/p>\n

The group arrived at the location using their operational car at 9 am (15\/12). Unusually, the hall looked deserted and residents chose to remain silent in their respective homes. Even though the Pundi Sumatra facilitator had socialized the PMI team's activity plans long ago, in fact the SAD residents were still afraid of the blood sampling process so they hid or only watched the team from a distance.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, predictions on the situation that morning had also been communicated to the PMI Team who were present, so the PMI Team, represented by Denis, decided to have a relaxed discussion first with Tumenggung Juray, and convey his intention of coming to the location this morning.<\/p>\n

\"\"This blood check is just a drop of blood bae coming out, sir,\"<\/em> said Arif as Pundi Sumatra's field assistant who tried to convince Tumenggung Juray to want to do a blood type check. Arif was also the first example whose blood type was checked in front of Pak Juray and Pak Amin (SAD residents). Denis as the Head of PMI Sarolangun Headquarters also tried to convince the two men.<\/p>\n

\"\u201cKnowing this blood type is important, sir. The point is if we are taken to the hospital, doctors don't have to bother checking our blood type anymore, so our health care is faster and less time is wasted,\"<\/em>\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Seeing the process of checking Arif's blood type directly, made Pak Juray finally willing to have his blood type checked, he wanted to be the first example for his group. Pak Amin, who had been silent all this while listening to the explanation about the importance of checking blood type, immediately stood up and picked up his children from the house to the meeting hall. After that, several residents started arriving and lining up to have their blood type checked.<\/p>\n

The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) is a national association organization in Indonesia engaged in the social and humanitarian field. PMI's activities are usually related to health and social services, disaster management, capacity building for vulnerable communities, and intersect with environmental issues. This organization does not favor any particular political, racial, ethnic or religious group. Based on Denis' narrative, this is the first time he and his team have carried out activities that intersect with the Anak Dalam Tribe.<\/p>\n

\"This <\/em>is the first <\/em>experience<\/em> for us,<\/em>, <\/em>even <\/em>though in fact there have been plans to do activities with the Anak Dalam Tribe <\/em>but <\/em>the timing just isn't right.,\u201d<\/em>he said. When observed in the field, according to Denis, this indigenous community has minimal knowledge about sanitation and personal hygiene issues. This is the first problem related to diseases that will appear later. Some diseases that can arise from this unhealthy condition are vomiting, tuberculosis, and diarrhea.<\/p>\n

Denis hopes that there will be another opportunity for PMI Sarolangun to provide health and social services in the scope of the Anak Dalam tribe, especially those in Sarolangun Regency.<\/p>\n
