Program : Biodiversity Conservation and Wildlife Protection

Since 2015, Pundi Sumatra has assumed the mandate as a Regional Facilitator (FASWIL) which is an extension of the Tropical Forest Conservation Action Sumatra (TFCA-Sumatra) at the regional level of Sumatra, especially at the Central Sumatra node. The project with the mission of facilitating conservation, protection, restoration and sustainable use of tropical forests in Sumatra works with 4 main pillars namely:

Penguatan Kelembagaan dan Kebijakan pada seluruh Pemangku Kepentingan

Penguatan Upaya Intervensi di Tingkat Bentang Alam demi Mempertahankan, Melindungi dan Meningkatkan fungsi Ekologis, Mengurangi Deforestasi dan Degradasi

Perlindungan Habitat dan Populasi Satwa Kunci (key species) yang terancam Punah antara lain Harimau Sumatra (Panthera tigris sumatrae), Badak Sumatra (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis), Orangutan Sumatra (Pongo abelii), dan Gajah Sumatra (Elephas maximus sumatranus)

Penguatan Masyarakat Lokal dan Peningkatan Kesejahteraannya

The priority areas facilitated by Pundi Sumatra include the Kerumutan-Kampar-Senepis Peninsula landscape, the Seblat Kerinci Ecosystem, Sembilang Berbak, Tesso Nilo National Park and Bukit Tiga Puluh National Park. And the number of partners who have been facilitated during the faswil period are 48 local partners whose working areas are spread across the landscape.

In mentoring and monitoring activities for partner recipients of the TFCA-S project, Pundi Sumatra also plays its role in providing assistance in partner program and financial management, strengthening the acceptance and support of parties to partner initiatives, increasing partner capacity through various series of training and share learning and with TFCA administrators documenting lessons, publications and facilitating the exchange of knowledge between program implementing partners.
